Snakes
The Rock Python is the largest snake found in Sri Lanka. It is a non-venomous, muscular snake and kills its prey by constriction, which shuts down the blood supply to all the major organs.
It is found all over Sri Lanka up to an altitude of 1,200m above sea level.
This Python is normally nocturnal and lives in forests, marshes, grasslands and plantations. They feed on mammals, birds and monitor lizards.
